This is Stripes ( not very imaginative I know ) and she is a young Ring Tail Possum. It looks like her mum was killed by a bait and her brothers and sisters aren't with her. She arrived at he groundskeepers doorstep at a local school and wouldn't be told to stay in the tree. She is a 'back rider', that means she is already out of the pouch and riding on her mothers back, which is a good thing as it means she's old enough to feed herself and wont have to spend too long in rehab until release.

At the moment she is staying with me until she is fully rehydrated and then tomorrow she is off to a shelter where there are several 'Ringy's' for her to be with. Family groups are essential to a Ringy's growth as they teach and learn from each other, unlike the more solitary Brushy's
