Aria

June 18, 2009
Hey everyone,

Meet Aria

She is a little bushy baby...came in today. She is inbetween Scully size and Womble's intake size...on a cusp..a very thin cusp for survival. She is strong, and drinking and pooping....and won't lie still for feeds..she's adorable...all the right combinations for a good hard effort to see if we can get her through this stage.
I really dont know about this one...its up to her, good food and every nature fairy I can muster at this point.

My dear ole swanny....

June 15, 2009
Well..young swan actually...she crash landed in a lovely lady's backyard in Caroline Springs!
She became quite ill after rescue and was taken to Melbourne Zoo who did a fantastic job and now she is in a good location with a new swan family and lots of fish!
While I absolutely love going on bird rescues and have so far rescued a gorgeous falcon, a couple of cranky egotistical pelicans, several seagulls and now swanny, I am soooo glad I dont have to house them! Unlike possums who do the courtesy ...

Wayward wallaby

June 8, 2009
Today this gorgeous wallaby decided to go for a swim in the Maribyrnong river. Mandy our co-ordinator went for a swim to capture her, much to the delight of firebrigade and news cameras.
I transported her wrapped up in a sleeping bag to our meet point, where she was picked up by Annakie Wildlife shelter transporter and last I heard , she was wet and sedated but alive. She was large, took up the whole back seet, and seemed well ( not frothy or agitated) but when I saw her eye open it looks like...

Beau passes away

June 5, 2009
The gorgeous roo that was hit with an arrow, named Baeu, died today.
He as going really well..but died overnight. His darling carer Narelle is devestated.

They will do an autopsy to find out exactly why but capture shock may have had something to do with it. The stress turns their body fluids into an acid like substance and it is very difficult to reverse that even under sedation.

This comes on the back of news that a baby wombat was found just in the Macedon Ranges clubbed to death by a golf cl...

Meet - Hmmm....

June 2, 2009
Meet my latest...she is an elderly  Galah  but I havent got a name for her yet  - Any idea's?
She was definately someones pet..she chuckles and bounces and talks when your not looking..and strangely..purrs like a  cat! :) As she looks owned, we will be hanging some flyers around trying to find her owner...if we can't we will try to rehouse her. On principle and emotionally, I just cant keep even this wonderful creature in a cage and se it every day..it breaks my heart.

Womble has left

June 1, 2009
Awww. Womble has gone now. Her new caregiver came and she was transported to her new home in Violet Town near the Strathbogie Ranges. She will go into a transition pen and then out into the forrest. Its a beautiful place and I hope to have some pics soon.
I am sad..but I know she will have more room to run and will have a lot of company up there. Already Victoria and a few others are awaiting her.

What a journey. Womble has taught me the lessons of persistance..hope..duty and lessons on having ...

fatty boomba

May 19, 2009
Its nearly time to make the call and get ready for Wombles big move to the shelter at Violet Town.
She has grown so fast and so much she has reached  the magic weight milestone.. I've avoided it for a week but this weigh in she came in at 800gms ( she put on over 400gms in one month!) and so, off she goes.
She is a big fatty boomba as my boss calls her...and I think she is about ready for new challenges. I want to go awwww..and probably will have a good old cry..but I am genuinely happy..we di...
