Under: Victoria updates
Today is moving day for Victoria. Ive given her a heap of goodies and a little bit of extra vet-lac to comfort her ( she's been on half and half water/milk this past week - weaning ) and help with her exploring her new environs. The box is a little too big so we've had to pad it up so she can get out and we've strategically placed stumps about it so she can exit and enter it with help until she grows a little more.
I've put her teddy out on a limb so she can have something familiar to cling onto..old ted's getting a bit ripe and is all chewed..but he's been with her since the beginning.
The only thing left to do is go raid the local flora this evening and pop it in with her. She is an avid climber so I've put heaps of different routes for her to explore.
We've left the ground floor absolutely bare...she needs to learn not to go to ground level owing to predators and that training starts today. We're shaving off the rougher edges of the stumps before her night time gambit...it looks a bit messy in pics but up close its bigger than her current pen and I hope she likes it. I think I'll be up a bit for the next few nights making sure she doesn't get herself stuck anywhere or lost on the ground.
Over the next few weeks we'll reduce the amount of fruit, increase the amount of flowers and leaves, drop her milk and just have her drinking water only...we'll put any fruit we do give out on the actual branches and hide any goodies in amongst leaves so she has to learn to forage for herself...the only tricky part I am not sure about..is how to teach her to nest for herself...thats going to be interesting.
