Christmas time!

Hi Everyone
Well..its been ages..absolutely ages since I last updated this blog!
Since the last time I wrote here I have housed and rehabbed and released a total of 27 possums! Along with several clans of ducks and a few seagulls and even a few Ringtails...life has been very busy!
Even though this years orphan season wasnt as bad as last year it was still quite full on and now they are all growing up and outside Ive finally got time to sleep rest and write. In amongst it all I've been flat chat organising my place for summer and adding depth to my own knoweldge about marsupial handling and rehabilitation in general.
Best news of the year is that Kurrara is now a fully fledged wildlife Shelter!
We will be known as " Blue Sky Wildlife Shelter" and this transition should be over in about a month or so. I will still have same number etc..just a new name for a brand new day. Successfully passing DSE inspection was a big deal for me and as a result of all that effort, in a few weeks I will have the permit paperwork to be fully licenced operator. How wonderful is that!
This is a huge step up from foster care and will allow me to expand and also to recieve subsidies for feed and products which will help no end. In the day to day workings of life here not much will change as I am happy with my limits and animal care range..what it does mean though is now I can do more education work, write more, ask for and recieve assistance and simply have a surer footing beneath what what we do here.
Anyway enough goss...here are some pics of whats been happening and who's been visiting...I wish you all a merry Christmas and bright blessings for 2011.

Some little Pacific Black Ducks came in this big....
Hung around for a bit....
And left a month or so later this big!

We had some furry visitors:

Released several back into the wild....

Some winged friends came to visit...

As we welcomed Spring..

We raised some chicks...
And watched them go free...

We even exhibited and sold some paintings!

We passed our shelter licence inspection and became Blue Sky
We refited and restocked...mowed and pruned....

And in spare moments...enjoyed Missy our walking fish tank, bathing and chasing our neighbours boxer around the yard.
