The gorgeous roo that was hit with an arrow, named Baeu, died today.
He as going really well..but died overnight. His darling carer Narelle is devestated.

They will do an autopsy to find out exactly why but capture shock may have had something to do with it. The stress turns their body fluids into an acid like substance and it is very difficult to reverse that even under sedation.

This comes on the back of news that a baby wombat was found just in the Macedon Ranges clubbed to death by a golf club. :(

I am one of those people that believe that how we treat animals  mirrros the way we treat humans and many attacks of this kind to mirror a resentment and frustration I have seen widely in our society. How we handle this kind fo situation I feel will determine our real underlying  ethics and the shape of our hearts as much as the future direction of our evolution or continuation on this planet and beyond it. This is why I do admire and see wisdom in (where others get angry over) our so called 'indulgent' prisons systems, as I believe in recovery and that rehabilitaiton is possible...it should at least be offered, and every effort given to the try, to every last ounce of our energy and strength..then tried again. I have seen what an ounce of mercy and compassion can alter...so I know it works...that there is hope.

Given the role of animals ( the fauna kind ) in my own recovery, and what I see happening with prisoners who work with animals as well, I know they are *a* key in developing our human empathy for others..and in learning to respect, recieve and engage with love and care  too.

It is sad our society is myopic at different levels to this interconnectedness...the value of our own capeabilities.

If past is fated to be in any way a prologue to our future...I hope we can recognise the potential of our animal friends in the human heart rehab project.....and I pray destiny more than fate rules..and we get the time to really get to know and utilize all of our resources for what they are. We dont have to revert to raging environmentalism..or more militarism...thats not necesary and only repeats old cycles.....imo, we can do better than that, and just need to see what we do already have and use it wisely for the best if not highest benefit of all.
To love..and be loved.
