Busy busy busy! :) It's been a very full month with lots of animal guests.

I'd just like to take the time while I have some, to say thank you to members of the public who are some providing extraordinary insight and care to these animals prior to rescue. I'd like to say thank you, for thinking before acting, thank you for caring and for ringing and for doing the right things..not just in calling us, but in your care of the little guys.
Things like wrapping them warmly, keeping them in dark warm spaces away from predators, caring enough to do that.

To the lovely lady who dropped in Hally the penguin, thank you for taking the time to notice what was happening and for the extra effort of driving all this way to ensure she was safe despite living on the other side of the bay yourself. Thanks too to Maddy's help-mate, who had the good sense to leave her in the pouch and keep her with her sadly deceased mum until we arrived. These are huge things... I know they mightnt seem like it but they are. And to the builders who always call and down tools for us, thank you too!

An update on the twins - their fantastic:) Thats about all I can as they are out in the big avairy and I am trying my hardest to dehumanise and ignore them with measured success. They are also nearing their release date! Only 200gms to go! Meep! They are loving it and still amazing me. Remy the little mr independant is also going well and enjoying his new enclosure too. He has about 400 gms to go before he can be considered for release.

So onto this month and here comes the pics...we've had a beautiful Electus parrot ( Cleck), an adorable little penguin ( Hally) and a couple of different sized baby possies, Maddy and Merci. I'm also boarding the ugliest but most goregous litlte dog Bella...who has an overbite you cant help but smile at.

Full house atm :)

Hally, little penguin chick who is just now getting her first feathers ever! She is soooooooo adorable..well..cept for the projectile poo, constant nips and the fact she can run as fast as a toddler on ritalin. She came in at 420gms and is now  586gms and something of an escape artist. She was found by a lovely lady from Frankstone sailing way out in the bay and was being attacked by seaoirds. She was exhausted and malnourished but she is getting the best care I can possibly give and will soon be transfered to the Philip Island sanctuary.

This little guy be Merci...a baby male brushtail having his feed. He is about the same size of the twins when they first came in. He had road rash all over his butt and tail, very gross and red and sore, but  with some pawpaw treatment has recovered completely. His mum was nowhere to be found and some very charming builders down tools for me so I could rescue him. I thank them for that and for not giggling having seen me at 7 am in the morning half asleep with bed hair and a stunned 'daylight already?' look on my face.

This charmer be Maddy, initially rescued by a wonderful young man who did eveyrthing right. Her mum I suspect was taken by cat attack and this little girl was in pouch. She took some time to settle, was dehydrated and malnourished, she wouldnt feed at first and is very skinny even now, but after a few days struggling, I am packing in the good stuff and she is now at least helping me to feed herself quite consistantly.

This is a picture of an Eclectus...one of two we found in a week. I didnt get any direct pics of my one when he came in but he was very cute ..no he was as he said,  'goregous'.
After a few days TLLC here, he is now with a small flock  includuing a very sexy female and living at Nigels Animal Rescue's Shelter. WIthin two days of being here he was barking like my dog, purring like my cat nd saying "howdy gorgeous". I am just glad he found a  home before he learnt anything else lol!

Beautiful Bella...overbite and all.

Oh nearly forgot!
I went to Seal Assessment Training day, an event run by WAR - Western Animal Rescue. It was fantastic:)
There were speakers from the Department of Sustainability and Environment, Melbourne Zooo and a unique presentation of how to's and how not to's. A wonderful seminar and very informative. Thank you Mandy Hall!

As I said..a busy busy month! :)
